FLEETWOOD’S BAG TAYLORMADE FOR VICTORY

Tommy Fleetwood finally secured his first PGA TOUR title in stunning fashion, winning the TOUR Championship and lifting the FedEx Cup with a dominant performance at East Lake. Armed with his Qi35 driver, Spider Tour putter and TP5x pix™ golf ball, Fleetwood closed out the season in style.

Fleetwood led the field in Strokes Gained: Putting (8.148) with his Spider Tour and ranked seventh in Strokes Gained: Approach (2.637) with his TP5x pix™. Entering the final round tied for the lead, he carded five birdies on his way to a three-shot victory.

Since the FedEx Cup’s inception, Fleetwood is the first player to claim his maiden PGA TOUR victory at the TOUR Championship.

The Qi35 Driver

Known for his unique setups, Fleetwood’s winning configuration included a driver, mini driver, 5-wood, 9-wood and 5-iron. “As the kids say…electric!!” he said of the unconventional mix.

Fitting Fleetwood for the Qi35 driver began by matching his specs to his previous gamer before testing various combinations. He gravitated toward the Qi35 paired with a Ventus Red 6X Velocore+, which offered speed gains and optimal spin rates. He later switched to a Ventus TR Blue 6X, which “presented the ability to kill spin down to 2400 RPM without sacrificing loft to gain more distance to have proper gapping with his new R7 Quad Mini.”

Adding slightly more loft also improved dispersion and made it easier for Fleetwood to draw the ball—his natural shot shape.

Trust in TP5x pix™

Fleetwood’s switch to TP5x pix™ stemmed from a discovery during a 2021 putting session. His previous Sharpie-line alignment caused fractional misalignments, which prompted him to adopt pix for improved feedback and roll.

“You hit different shots at different times…sometimes you want to float one up, sometimes you want to penetrate the wind and sometimes you want it to hold its line in a cross wind. The ability of TP5x to do all those things at different times, the stability of it and how it holds its line makes the TaylorMade ball the best ball I’ve hit and seen perform in the wind,” Fleetwood explained.

The Mini Driver King

Fleetwood has become synonymous with the mini driver since introducing it at the 2023 RBC Heritage. This week he had the all-new R7 Quad Mini in play.

“Everybody knows I’m a mini driver guy. I haven’t had a three wood in my bag in three years and the mini has been a staple part of my bag,” said Fleetwood. “Most of the time it’s going to be a club that I hit off the tee hitting 280 to be about 20 yards less than my driver. Everyone associates me as a drawer of the golf ball, but I actually hit driver with a very straight ball flight. So, if I need to turn one right-to-left, the mini for me is a push up to the right side and let it turn over. Off the deck, the head is not as shallow as a three wood so I’m going to catch it a little bit more off the bottom, but the mini driver still holds its spin and still launches high enough. For me, it’s actually as good or even better than off the tee.”

Spider Tour Putter Switch Pays Off

Fleetwood also made a crucial switch on the greens earlier this season. At the 2025 RBC Heritage, he tested both Spider ZT and Spider Tour Black before settling on the latter to counteract his tendency to aim left and close the face. Working with putter rep James Holley, Fleetwood added custom alignment aids with silver and brown Sharpie lines to help simplify his setup.

“The fact that I now have a nice big line projecting to help me line up behind the ball, I just have to pick my line, walk in and set the putter up on that line and my decision’s made,” said Fleetwood. “I think that sometimes you stand over the putt and you are adjusting all the time because it doesn’t feel right. Having something on the top of the putter has actually really made a difference to my routine as well.”

With his maiden PGA TOUR win, a FedEx Cup title, and his equipment setup dialled in, Fleetwood’s breakthrough moment may well mark the start of a new chapter in his career.
