MITSUBISHI CHEMICAL LAUNCHES NEW COUNTERBALANCED TENSEI 1K PRO ORANGE SHAFT

Mitsubishi Chemical America has unveiled the newest addition to its TENSEI 1K shaft family, the TENSEI 1K Pro Orange with RIP+ Tip Technology. The counterbalanced shaft is designed for drivers and fairway woods and targets golfers looking for increased clubhead speed, added stability, and the smooth feel the TENSEI line is known for.

As with other shafts carrying the Orange designation in the TENSEI range, the Pro Orange concentrates additional weight in the handle. According to MCA, this next-generation counterbalanced design increases tip-side activity, giving golfers the option to pair the shaft with heavier clubheads or longer playing lengths without compromising swing weight. The company says the setup produces more efficient energy transfer and higher clubhead speed while preserving control.

Several material and construction updates set the Pro Orange apart from previous TENSEI models. The shaft’s premium 1K cloth has been moved to the lower mid-section to improve stability while retaining the brand’s signature feel, and it’s built with MR70 carbon fiber, which MCA says has a tensile strength exceeding 1,000 ksi for added strength and durability.

The shaft’s tip section also incorporates the company’s RIP+ Tip Technology, combining ultra-thin 20FAW material with 46T high-modulus fiber to reduce twisting and improve start line control, along with boron fiber to boost stiffness and energy transfer.

Notably, MCA achieved the shaft’s pronounced counterbalanced profile through refined mandrel design and layup rather than tungsten powder, an approach the company says maintains the fast, stable, smooth-feeling performance associated with the TENSEI family.

The TENSEI 1K Pro Orange is aimed at golfers who value the feel and versatility of a counterbalanced shaft but want more clubhead speed, consistent impact location, and better start line control.

Availability and Pricing

The shaft will roll out through MCASG’s network of authorized dealers and custom fitting partners beginning August 28, 2026. It will be offered in 50 (R/S/X/TX), 60 (R/S/X/TX), 70 (S/X/TX), 80 (S/X/TX), and 90 (X) weight classes, with a suggested retail price of $360.

For custom fitters and retailers in Europe, the TENSEI 1K Pro Orange will be available through European distributor Over The Top Golf at ottgolf.com.
