FootJoy improve on the most popular shoe in golf

The FootJoy Pro/SLX has big shoes to fill, as the replacement for the incredibly successful Pro|SL is ready to hit stores.

The FootJoy Pro|SL has been a juggernaut in the industry, the #1 selling shoe (value) in the UK market since its launch in 2017. That’s a lot of golf shoes sold. The brand has worked hard on it’s successor, knowing it’s a vital model for their continued success.

One of the most successful product franchises in golf, the Pro|SL has set a high standard for performance golf shoes by delivering comfort, traction and performance for men, women and juniors at all levels of the game.

The next evolution of Pro|SL – Pro/SLX and Pro/SLX Carbon – incorporates the most advanced materials, performance technologies and construction processes to provide golfers with revolutionary traction, comfort and control.

Like its predecessors, Pro/SLX golf shoes are sure to be popular at every level of the game, including on the professional Tours. They have already been worn in practice and in play by the likes of Sungjae Im, Corey Connors, Daniel Hillier and many more.

Hillier, 2023 British Masters Champion, explained what he likes about the new model. “What FootJoy have done with that extra support around the ankle has definitely made the shoe feel very stable. The comfort levels of the Pro/SLX are amazing – better than the previous iteration which is great as it combines comfort with durability and stability providing everything you want from a golf shoe. I really like the style also, it has a slightly wider base which is going to help with the traction element. I am very reluctant to ever go back to my previous shoe model now as these are so good.”

Pro/SLX will introduces a new traction design called the PWR TRAX System. It features a moulded 3D X-Wing that is engaged by swing forces to redistribute energy to the perimeter of the golf shoe, inspired by the wide base found in race cars to maximise perimeter stability and traction. The Race Trak Outsole with radial disc traction harnesses and extends into the ground to increase the overall traction footprint. Multiple traction elements target specific on-course conditions and around-the-course walking needs.

FJ’s exceptionally comfortable StratoFoam midsole offers exceptional comfort and is specifically tuned to absorb and return energy with every step. Around the ankle is a 3D Molded Collar that locks the foot in place for supreme comfort and a reliable, consistent fit.
The 3D X-Wing provides increased stability as you swing and engage with the ground. An FTF+ foam surrounds the StratoFoam midsole for a stable platform when swinging. An exposed heel stabiliser and side wall TPU wrap help to control lateral and upper movement.
Patrick Trubiano, Director Of Product Management, FJ Footwear, sums up the brands belief in the new model.

“We know the game is evolving and we need to make sure that we are evolving with a modern golf shoe for the modern golfer. Pro/SLX will feature cutting edge, never-before-seen performance innovation that will truly advance your game. Golfers are going to be excited about the performance of the new Pro/SLX. It’s very comfortable, it’s very stable and it looks phenomenal.” GR
