Scottish golfers dominated the Titleist Order of Merit in 2013 which is operated by HowDidiDo and Golf Monthly. The Scots won seven of the nine categories. In a field of almost 21,000 club golfers, the overall title went to Alan Russell, from Clydebank Overtoun Golf Club, with an impressive score of 6,807 points – more than 100 ahead of his nearest rival. He won a full, long-game fitting – driver, fairway wood and hybrid at a Titleist fitting centre.
Russell is a 33 year old a residential childcare worker and reduced his handicap from six at the start of the last summer to its current level of two. He commented, “It’s enjoyable to try to better your counting scores and see how you’re doing against friends and club-mates. I’m really looking forward to being fitted for my Titleist equipment.” The other category winners each received a dozen Titleist golf balls, a Titleist stand bag and a Titleist glove and cap.
The Titleist Order of Merit is a virtual golf competition open to every golfer whose handicap is listed on Howdidido.com and who participates in medal competitions. Neither the player nor the club perform additional entry of scores as all medal scores are automatically collated by HowDidiDo’s handicapping software.
