THE BIG GOLF RACE WINTER SHOOT-OUT PROVES A HUGE SUCCESS

The Big Golf Race Trackman Winter Shoot-Out was deemed a huge success with more than 400 golfers taking part across the country and even saw a hole-in-one, with players taking to indoor simulators during the cold winter months earlier this year.

Powered by pioneering golf software company Trackman and free to enter, the Big Golf Race Winter Shoot-Out was an innovative indoor virtual golf challenge with any golfer around the UK able to take part by using a Trackman indoor simulator anywhere across the country.

Prostate Cancer UK and Trackman partnered to deliver a three round, 9-hole, stroke play tournament taking place on the front nine of three iconic Major golfing venues – St Andrews, Evian Resort and Bethpage Black, also the host of the 2025 Ryder Cup.

Each round was open for a month at-a-time and had an individual prize winner, plus cumulative points going towards an overall Order of Merit champion, who was Adrian De Vito from Doncaster collecting an award-winning Motocaddy M5 GPS electric trolley and Dry-Series bag.

1 in 8 men get prostate cancer in the UK – the most common cancer in men – which was highlighted on the 8th hole at each iconic course with an in-game closest to the pin. During the final round at the Evian Resort, Matthew Henny, from Glasgow got a hole-in-one to collect the prize of a dozen Titleist Pro V1 golf balls.

“It was great to see so many golfers taking part in the Winter Shoot-Out over the last few months as the cold wet winter weather hit the country and we’re delighted with the results,” said Mike Lea, Regional Sales Director for Trackman in the UK, Ireland and Middle East.

“We’ve had plenty of positive feedback from the venues using Trackman software with some wanting to host their own fundraising events in the future, like Top Tee Golf in Leighton Buzzard, who put on a successful event recently raising over £1400,” he added.

Seren Evans, Head of Events and Community Fundraising at Prostate Cancer UK said: “Partnering with a huge golf brand like Trackman has helped us understand how we can engage golfers outside of the summer period and support fundraisers and venues through the tougher winter time. We’re looking forward to working with venues across the country on events that they want to stage themselves to keep awareness of prostate cancer within golf all-year round,” she added.
