Team YUMAX enters The Big Golf Race

Team YUMAX Golf is joining thousands of other teams across the country in the Big Golf Race to help raise vital funds for Prostate Cancer UK.

The eight-person YUMAX team, which will include Andrew Grose, Roger Wolfe, Ben Davis and Alistair Gill amongst others, will play 36 holes – known as the half marathon – at Hankley Common Golf Club in Surrey on Wednesday, September 22, and they are inviting the golf industry to help them raise as much money as possible.

Prostate cancer kills one man every 45 minutes, the same time on average that it takes to play three holes of golf. The disease is the most common cancer among men, with the disease often not showing any early symptoms, and with currently no national screening programme.

“When you see information like this it’s hard not to get involved,” said Andrew Grose, managing director of Bushnell Golf.  “We decided that a team from YUMAX Golf should take part and represent Bushnell Golf.

“Every golf club in the country will have someone affected by this terrible disease, and we want to play our part in supporting the amazing work, support and research that Prostate Cancer UK provides.”

Roger Wolfe, CEO of YUMAX Golf, said: “Not everyone will have the opportunity to get out there and support the Big Golf Race by physically playing golf, but everyone can support our efforts by donating funds using the link below.

“We hope that our friends and colleagues will see this as something more than just a bit of fun and, with most golfers being male, this is serious stuff.”

Donors both large and small will be entered into a draw to win one of the new Bushnell Phantom2 handheld GPS devices. Awarded Editors’ Choice in both Golf Monthly and Today’s Golfer’s recent equipment awards, the Phantom2 is recognised as golf’s easiest-to-use GPS device – providing front, centre and back yardages on a large, easy-read screen.

The money raised by this challenge will help fund research into life-saving work to develop new ways to diagnose and treat prostate cancer, while also providing practical support for men and their families.
