SCOTTY CAMERON LAUNCHES NEW OC (ONSET CENTER) LOW-TORQUE PUTTERS

Titleist have unveiled new Scotty Cameron OC (Onset Center) putters that combine low-torque performance with exceptional feel and feedback, promoting a square-to-the-path delivery while keeping golfers connected to the putting stroke. Two new models — the Phantom 11R OC and Studio Style Fastback OC — bring OC technology to each of Scotty Cameron’s putter families in familiar mallet and mid-mallet profiles.

“Onset Center” refers to the putters’ shaft position, which is set back of the putter head’s leading edge (Onset) and in line with its centre of gravity (Center). This tour-validated setup minimises torque and simplifies the putting stroke, and its addition to the Studio Style and Phantom families gives golfers a new option within Scotty Cameron’s range of existing shaft and neck configurations.

“In the last few years, we’ve seen a growing number of golfers who want to minimise the feel of face rotation in the stroke via putter setup,” said Austie Rollinson, Scotty Cameron’s Senior Director of Putter R&D. “And as a designer, what excites me most about OC is that it gives golfers options. We now have an entirely new configuration for golfers who want to feel a square, straight-back-and-through path.”

In addition to shaft placement, OC’s design features – such as the tour-proven head shapes, chain-link face milling, minimal shaft lean and precisely-selected shaft and grip – facilitate a natural transition from traditional putting styles for players seeking reduced face rotation and consistency on the greens without losing connection to the stroke.

“When we went to work on low-torque designs, as with all products, we started with tour player feedback,” said Rollinson. “It became clear that low-torque putters often come at the cost of feel, so we designed our OC models to minimise face rotation while maintaining responsiveness and feedback.”

OC TECHNOLOGY AND FEATURES

Low-torque design: Scotty Cameron OC putters feature shaft placement set back from the leading edge (Onset) and in line with the putter head’s front-to-back CG (Center). This minimises torque and creates a square feel for golfers looking to eliminate face rotation.

Traditional feel and feedback: The Phantom 11R OC model features Scotty Cameron’s chain-link face milling design across the face, while the Fastback OC model features the Studio Style lineup’s Studio Carbon Steel (SCS) face insert, also with chain-link face milling. Both designs dial in feel by softening sound while preserving feedback, which is essential in identifying strike location — especially in low-torque setups.

Minimal shaft lean: OC putters feature one degree of shaft lean, promoting a neutral setup and a natural hand position familiar to many of the best putters in the game. The subtle shaft lean also delivers unimpeded topline views at address.

Loft and lie customisation: Adjusting the loft and lie angle on OC putters does not compromise low-torque performance, allowing golfers to make spec changes as needed.

Heavier head weight, custom shaft and grip: New OC models offer connection to the putting stroke through 15-gram heavier head weights (compared to standard Scotty Cameron models) and a custom black shaft with flex properties designed to match the weight increase without dulling feel. OC putters are also equipped with a tapered Matador Mid grip.

MODEL BREAKDOWN

Phantom 11R OC

The new Phantom 11R OC is built off the Phantom 11 platform, a stable, high-MOI multi-material mallet design. The tour-inspired 11R shape features softer, more rounded edges than the Phantom 11 head, and the new model features a full chain-link milled face. The 11R has a single alignment line, which extends back to the shaft placement.

Phantom 11R OC is available as a left-handed option as well.

Studio Style Fastback OC

The new Studio Style Fastback OC model shares the footprint of the 2025 Fastback model, a ring-weighted mid-mallet design with high-contrast alignment. Like all Fastback offerings in the Studio Style family, the new Fastback OC is constructed from 303 stainless steel and 6061 aircraft aluminum, and it features a Studio Carbon Steel face insert with a chain-link milling pattern for better feel and roll performance. A single sight line delivers a clean, simple alignment cue at address.

TOUR VALIDATION

On Tour, Elvis Smylie moved into the Phantom 11R OC model in mid-October last year after spending some time with Scotty Cameron Putter Specialist on the DP World Tour, Henry Byrne.

Elvis was looking for some additional stability from his putter and found that the Phantom 11R OC allowed him to develop a consistent setup thanks to the centre shaft which in turn helped improve his release pattern.

The 23 year-old saw immediate success winning his first two events after putting the model in play, including the BMW Australian PGA Championship on the DP World Tour, earning him full status for the 2024/2025 season.

Elvis currently sits inside the top 20 of the Race to Dubai rankings and is in contention to gain a PGA Tour card for next season.”

– SMYLIE ON HIS SCOTTY CAMERON PHANTOM 11R OC PUTTER: “My favourite club is in the bag is my putter… I [had] been using a blade for a very long time. So going from a blade putter back to a mallet putter is something a little bit different, but it’s got a little centre shaft as well… It helps sit your hands in a really nice position. I’ve been using this model since last October and I’ve managed to get my first professional win with it. And this has definitely been a reason why I got over the line, so I can’t see myself changing anytime soon.”

FAQ

Are OC models zero-torque putters?

OC putters are low torque, as the act of putting introduces torque, no matter the design. Compared to other Scotty Cameron offerings — even the existing Phantom lineup’s most face-balanced models — OC putters deliver the lowest torque design for a square-to-the-path delivery.

What kind of golfers would benefit most from OC?

OC putters will best fit players looking to minimise face rotation and feel a straight-back-and-through stroke. Design elements like minimal shaft lean (one degree), familiar head shapes from the Studio Style and Phantom families and a conventional grip style (tapered Matador Mid) help facilitate a smooth transition from more traditional putter setups.

How do OC putters maintain feel and feedback?

A priority throughout the OC design process was to mitigate loss of feel and feedback. OC putters feature a slightly stiffer shaft that complements the 15-gram heavier head weights and maintains flex properties that preserve the feel of the clubhead. The Fastback OC’s SCS insert and Phantom 11R OC’s full-face chain-link milling pattern provide Scotty Cameron’s familiar soft feel off the face at impact, and a tapered Matador Mid grip offers a comfortable connection to the stroke through the hands.
