PRG partners with England Deaf Golf

PRG has become the Golf Accessories Partner to England Deaf Golf (EDG). The new deal will see the brand provide stylish PomPom headcovers to the England Deaf Golf squad. PRG re-introduced the classic retro PomPom headcover to the golf accessory market seven years ago.

EDG squad members will be provided with stylish red and white PomPom headcovers sporting the logo and name of the organisation, which started life as the English Deaf Golf Association back in 1983. The headcovers will be on display at various golf events throughout the year, and have also found their way into the hands of EDG patrons, Lee Westwood and Tony Jacklin.

The fledging association for deaf and hard-of-hearing golfers started out with just ten members but now has around 200 following initiatives over the years to make all golf clubs aware of its existence. The EDG is part of UK Deaf Sport, a registered charity aiming to encourage deaf people to participate in, enjoy and excel at sport. This year, a team of 14 will head to Norway to defend the European Deaf Golf Championship. The men’s squad also finished runner-up in the World Deaf Golf Championship in Michigan last year.

EDG sponsorship officer, Jay Stally said, “With more good players coming onboard all the time, the EDG squad has been going from strength to strength in recent years. We’ve all been big fans of PRG’s PomPom covers since they first appeared a few years ago, so to now be able to proudly show off our fantastic bespoke models at the many tournaments and events we visit is great for us and our players.”

Kevin Funnell, PRG director commented, “We are keen to support organisations like England Deaf Golf, so when I first heard of the incredible work and enthusiasm of EDG and its members, I was more than pleased to be able to help them out. They have a long-term goal to work with partners to create a world-class system of golf for deaf and hard-of-hearing people in England, and we are delighted to now be one of those partners.” More at: www.prgolfonline.com
