PGA partners with Speedflex

Speedflex high intensity fitness centres have become a PGA Official Supplier. The company, with headquarters in the north-east, has several centres across the UK offering high-intensity, personal trainer led workouts with instant physiological feedback.

Speedflex joins the PGA’s network of suppliers as part of its support sponsorship of the ISPS Handa PGA Seniors Championship which for the first time is being staged at Close House Golf Club, Newcastle, in June. England football legend Alan Shearer is one of several Speedflex ambassadors and Lee Westwood is also a user of the high-tech training programme having been introduced to the concept through his association with Close House.

Utilising a combination of cardio and resistance training, the fitness centres feature Speedflex machines which automatically respond to, and create resistance levels, based on the force exerted. People of all ages and abilities can train together in small groups, led by personal trainers with the high intensity 30 or 45 minute group sessions enabling people to work out with little or no impact, burning high numbers of calories whilst linked to a heart rate monitor.

Robert Maxfield, The PGA’s joint chief operating officer and director of property and commercial, commented, “Speedflex fitness centres are both impressive in terms of the state of the art technology, specialised equipment and physiological feedback provided and also for the benefits it can offer to golfers. With more and more golfers realising the benefits to their game of greater fitness and flexibility, The PGA is delighted to welcome Speedflex on board as an Official Supplier.”
