Lamkin grips used by Open Champion

Lamkin Corporation  would like to congratulate the winner of the 147th Open Championship at Carnoustie on his victory this weekend. This incredible performance marks both the maiden Major victory for the winner along with the first Major win for an Italian golfer.

The winner, equipped with the new custom TS1 grips from Lamkin, showed incredible consistency all week. With birdies, bogeys, doubles and more flying in around him, the winner shot a hugely impressive bogey free final 36 holes, displaying the remarkable control and confidence that has been evident in his play this season. Since switching to the brand new Lamkin TS1 grips in the spring, the winner has won at the European Tour’s flagship BMW PGA Championship, placed second in his native Italian Open, recorded his first PGA Tour victory at the Quicken Loans National and now taken his first Major with this unrivalled display of golf.

Upon seeing the result, Bob Lamkin CEO of Lamkin Grips’ couldn’t hide his delight at the result, commenting, “When we design a new grip our sole purpose is to give a golfer confidence in the connection to their clubs. To see Justin Rose equal the course record on Saturday and turn it into a second place on Sunday was amazing, and then to watch the winners’ immaculate performance over the last two days using our grips has made this a Championship that we will never forget at Lamkin.”

Using his favored REL ACE grips, Justin Rose capitalized on the birdie at hole 35 that secured him a place in the field for the weekend. He attacked the course on Saturday with a birdie on the first before following it up with six more and not a single blemish on the card, to record a Carnoustie Open record equaling 64. He then kicked on with a 69 on Sunday, that was only bettered by 2 golfers, to finish second, his highest ever placing in an Open Championship.

The brand new TS1 grips, used by the new champion, feature Lamkin’s revolutionary GENESIS compound and utilizes FINGERPRINT TECHNOLOGY micro-textures for unmatched feel and responsiveness. A reduced-taper shape reduces excess grip tension for a more fluid swing. The Tour-inspired TS1 is exceptionally durable and maintains a consistent feel in all weather conditions.

The REL ACE grips as used by Rose for many years benefit from Lamkin’s super-tacky ACE 3GEN material which dampens vibration and combines with a unique keyhole pattern to maximize contact with the golfer’s hands and provide an incredibly secure connection to the club.
