Ladies get into the swing of things at Thonock Park

Thonock Park, in Gainsborough, played host to a fun, free and insightful ladies’ golf day this week, as more than 30 women visited the club to either give the game a go for the first time or hone their skills with expert tuition.

Supported by global golf giants, PING, the event saw 35 ladies head to Thonock Park and spark their passion for the game in a social and pressure-free environment, with the help of the club’s Head Professional, Nick Taylor, and a group of PGA coaches from love.golf.

Backed by ground-breaking research, love.golf is a proven approach to women’s tuition, delivered by a community of coaches who engage, inspire and progress women in the sport.

An alternative to what might be typically expected from women’s golf coaching, love.golf experiences take place on the golf course so that women learn how they typically want to learn – in a group environment free from any dress codes or unnecessary rules.

The home of PING Europe’s European Fitting Centre, Thonock Park, closed its doors on Tuesday to provide an exclusive and intimate experience for the new lady golfers.

Commenting on the day, Thonock Park General Manager, Ben Hatch, said: “We were extremely impressed by this new initiative designed to introduce more ladies to the game, and hope that with the help of love.golf, days like these will help to further grow the ladies’ game and inspire even more women to pick up a club and give golf a try.”

Speaking about the support received from the team at Thonock Park, love.golf’s Alastair Spink added: “Thonock Park is a really great venue for us, it’s so easy to just walk out from the driving range on to the golf course. The setup here just makes everything so easy for both our lady golfers and professional coaches.

“The clubhouse is a really friendly and welcoming place to be, there are really no barriers or challenges along the way here that might stop ladies from participating.”

Owners of Thonock Park Golf Club, PING, have been big supporters of the love.golf initiative over the last 12 months.

Tuesday’s event was split in to two identical sessions. Both began with a welcome talk hosted Spink, after which the ladies were presented with some love.golf gifts before they headed out to the driving range and then the course.

Hatch added: “We hope that this event has inspired even more women to take up the game. There were plenty of laughs, great swings and some new friends made, creating lasting memories for everybody who took part.”
