Dragon Golf expands to the UK, bringing Japanese craftsmanship to the British game

Dragon Golf UK is launching this month to bring superior Japanese golf clubs to British players. Notoriously difficult to acquire due to their exclusive nature, Japanese clubs are amongst the most desirable pieces of craftsmanship in the industry. Dragon Golf has partnered with an exclusive number of Japanese manufacturers to forge these hand-crafted clubs and exclusive grips. They will now be obtainable for players in the UK who appreciate their finer detail and excellence.

The clubs showcase a combination of Japanese tradition, philosophy, and meticulous craftsmanship. Their unique designs appeal to modern golfers, with specification changes available for all models – as they are all handcrafted to order. The unique manual production is a world away from the mass-produced clubs readily available on the market. This makes each club entirely unique for each player, which can then be bespoke fitted at the studio in Tamworth.

Japan has a long standing reputation for creating a superior standard of golf club. The country has a long tradition of Blacksmiths, whose knowledge and experience in working with steel has been passed down from generation to generation. This skill has been transformed into beautiful works of art in the form of modern golf clubs. Each is forged with the highest standard of Japanese steel and hand crafted by skilled artisans, down to the smallest of details.

Each of the manufacturers are hand-picked by Dragon Golf, to ensure the best quality is selected. Dragon Golf is currently working with six independent manufacturers across Japan; including Takumi Japan, Makino and Yamada, each with their own unique history, traditions, and skill sets. Takumi Japan for example is based in Hyogo Prefecture, approximately 30 km north of Himeji, in the city of Ichikawa, the nucleus of forged Japanese golf clubs

Takumi Japan (translated to ‘artisan’) are one of the oldest and most renowned golf club forgers in Japan. To become a Takumi, outstanding skill and dexterity must be demonstrated in at least 60,000 hours of dedication, which can often take more than 32 years to achieve. To produce a Takumi Japan club, mostly made by hand, up to 80 individual process steps are essential, most of which can only be carried out by the Takumi themselves. They complete the whole process, from the sketch to the finished club head, with everything being created under one roof.

The Dragon Golf brand originated in Cologne, Germany by Japan enthusiast, Marcus Kraus, with the aim to give these pieces of excellence a platform in Europe. The UK strand is being led by Ash Sudera, who first discovered the brand whilst looking for a set of hand-crafted Japanese clubs to improve his own play.

Dragon Golf UK, along with their partner manufacturers are proud to be offering these masterful golf clubs a platform in Europe. They are representing and appreciating the important history and background of these handicraft businesses as well as to convey Japanese traditions and philosophies.
