AND THEY’RE OFF: THE GOLF TRUST ARE GOING THE EXTRA MILE

The team of amateur golfers aiming to raise £80k for 3 Paragolfers, started their 18 round challenge with the dawn chorus at The Shire, London on Monday. They were joined for the 5am tee off time by some of the charity’s supporters and beneficiaries for a Texas scramble before heading to Bristol. The team then plays through Wales into Ireland, out of Northern Ireland and into Scotland finally completing the epic challenge in St Andrews on Saturday.

Along the way the team will be playing with people with disability including various Paragolfer users, The Back Up Trust who get people with spinal injury back into work, The Northern Ireland Blind Golf Association, The Wobbly Golfer and Steven Cafferty Team Manager of GB Golf at the Deaflympics in November. They will also play some of the most progressive and inclusive venues in the UK & Ireland.

“I am so impressed with the amount of people who came to The Shire today to see us off at that time in the morning,” commented Founder of The Golf Trust, Cae Menai-Davis. “Seeing our Paragolfer users on course alongside the people who have supported us and make our work possible is a great reminder of why we’re embarking on this challenge. 24% of the UK’s population is registered disabled and our work helps empower people with disability to live independent lives. Every penny we raise will go towards giving more free access to golf, so please donate.”
