Golf Professionals looking to enhance their club making, club fitting and repair skills should consider booking a place on one of a range of Academy courses being run by Diamond Golf International this autumn and winter.
The DGI Academy courses, which were launched last year, are certificated and carry points towards any PGA Pro’s CPD (Continued Professional Development) programme. Tuition will be provided by Diamond Golf’s expert staff with group sizes being kept deliberately small – 6-10 people – to allow for hands-on one-to-one tuition.
Based in a new, purpose-built workshop facility and classroom at its West Sussex (UK) headquarters, the courses range from specially-designed training modules for the beginner right up to the more experienced club fitter/maker.
Professionals of all standards, experience and knowledge can apply for the DGI Academy courses, with modules including one and two-day seminars, up to and including a more intensive five-day course.
The DGI Academy is headed by up Doug Holmes (pictured), a master club fitter and maker who has worked at Diamond Golf for 20 years. In that time he has amassed vast experience in the field of club technology, and been teaching courses on club fitting, club making and repairs for many years, both for Diamond Golf and on behalf of the PGA as part of their CPD programme for members.
Holmes said: “We were delighted with the response to the launch of the Academies last year, as well as the calibre of the attendees. They have ranged from the experienced club maker and repairer to the complete novice, and it’s been great to see that each has gone away with more knowledge and a greater understanding of the clubmaking and fitting repair process.
“Some we will see again, as they attend more advanced modules over the Autumn and winter period. Feedback has certainly confirmed that what we are doing is adding to the knowledge base amongst pros, and we’re looking forward to the new series of Academies.”
Daren Treacy, Diamond Golf’s managing director, added: “There’s a big demand for professionally-accredited club-fitting and club-making courses – whether a pro is in the first stage of their career, or is more experienced and requiring a refresher course on latest equipment and techniques. With an ever-increasing demand for custom fit clubs from golfers, it’s essential for any club professional to be able to offer these services to their members.”
