Atlantic Links, one of England’s most popular golf networks, have announced a trade initiative with Golf Tourism England (GTE), a body created to enhance the appeal of England’s golf tourism appeal, agreeing collaborative measures to engage key members of the trade at the International Golf Travel Market (IGTM).
The Atlantic Links is comprised of six championship links courses in south west England: Somerset’s Burnham & Berrow designed by Harry Colt, Saunton’s East and West Courses that have hosted numerous top amateur championships, England’s oldest links, Royal North Devon, the James Braid-designed Church Course at St Enodoc and another Harry Colt classic at Trevose.
“Atlantic Links is a product that can compete at the highest level and will give the attendees at the IGTM some additional food for thought with their future product development programmes,” commented Andrew Cooke, CEO Golf Tourism England. “The collaboration is very welcome and will assist in driving interest in England as one of the world’s most untapped golf travel markets.”
The news follows the recent success of Golf Tourism England, one of a number of successful projects to receive funding from the £40 million Discover England Fund. VisitEngland, who administers the Fund and GTE will be working together on a programme of activity to ensure that England stays competitive in the rapidly growing global tourism industry.
GTE has selected the annual International Golf Travel Market (IGTM), which this year takes place in Mallorca from November 14 to 17, as the first opportunity to promote the Atlantic Links as well as some of the other premier golf regions in England like Golf in Kent, England’s Golf Coast, Surrey’s heathland courses and the Leeds Golf Tour.
Over the four days, the Atlantic Links will be promoted as one of England’s premier destinations to some of the 350 golf tour operators and around 100 international golf journalists that will be in attendance at IGTM for pre-scheduled appointments, networking opportunities and industry updates.
