Tenerife gets cool for the summer

The Tenerife Tourism Corporation (TTC) has launched a promotional campaign themed on ‘Golf Cool’ this summer. Well known as a winter golf destination the Spanish island with nine golf courses wants to attract golfers from the UK to visit in the summer months as well.

The ‘Golf Cool’ campaign is based around four key factors: better value green fees, ideal golfing temperatures, quieter golf courses and longer days, with time for the pool or beach. In value terms, TTC states that green fees between April and October are approximately 25 percent cheaper than in the winter months with hotel rates also significantly reduced in many periods.

Tenerife has a pleasant summer climate as cooling trade winds keep average temperatures across the summer period to about 25°C, with virtually no rain and an average of more than nine hours of sunshine per day, ideal for golf breaks. Golf courses on Tenerife are generally much quieter in the summer months, giving visitors the opportunity to schedule tee-times to their own personal requirements and providing an uncrowded feel on-course.
