Sir Ian picks Brocket Hall for Beefy Challenge

Former England skipper Sir Ian Botham, who has become just as famous for his charitable activities as for his 383 test wickets, raised money for Beefy’s Charity Foundation – which helps fund specific projects from a wide range of charities across the UK – when he hosted a special England v India and Rest of the World challenge at Brocket Hall last month.

Scheduled to tie in with India’s summer cricket tour of England, the event attracted the likes of former Indian captains Sourav Ganguly and Kapil Dev, who won the day’s competition, ex-England stars Matthew Hoggard, Mark Butcher and Adam Holliaoke, and former CNN presenter Piers Morgan.

It was the first occasion ‘Beefy’ had taken his annual cricketing golf day fundraiser to Brocket Hall after it was recommended by a friend, but as he confirmed, it won’t be the only time he visits.

Sir Ian stated, “Brocket Hall is a fantastic venue for a golf day; the 18th, over the water and up to the beautiful clubhouse for a refreshing drink, is ideal. The course, staff, food and accommodation were faultless – we will be back,” he explained.

Next year’s fundraiser will be an ‘Ashes’ contest, with Botham’s England XI taking on an Australian side.
