SCHEFFLER WINS THE MEMORIAL WITH TAYLORMADE

Scottie Scheffler entered the final round at Muirfield Village with a one-shot lead. In Scottie fashion, his play throughout the final round was steady as he carded three birdies against just one bogey.

His rounds of 70-70-68-70 (-10) were enough to secure his third victory of 2025, his third in his last four starts, and the 17th of his career. As usual, Scottie’s performance is proven in his stats. For the week he finished:

First in Strokes Gained: Total (15.482)
Second in Strokes Gained: Approach to Green (7.260)
Second in Strokes Gained off the Tee (3.938)
Third in Strokes Gained: Around the Green (4.343)
Tied Second in Greens in Regulation: (68.06%)
First in Scrambling: (78.26%)
First in Total Pars: (51)
First in Fewest Bogeys: (4)

SCOTTIE’S QI35 7-WOOD
Prior to the start of the PGA Championship, Scottie decided to replace his three-iron with a Qi35 7-wood. His 7-wood launches 1.5°-2° higher with 1,500 more rpm of spin than his three-iron. The goal was to produce a 240-yard carry distance with greater consistency than he does with his three-iron. In testing, his self-described “high one” launched at 14.9° with 5,175 rpm of spin and carried 245 yards with a ball speed of 160mph.

TaylorMade Senior Tour Manager, Adrian Rietveld, made the 7-wood slightly more upright than it was when Scottie had it in play at Torrey Pines. The goal was to get the face to sit a little more square at address. The spec of his 7-wood is closer to a 5-wood which properly matches the gapping with his 3-wood.

“We fit his 3-wood shorter so it didn’t go farther than his desired distance with that club, so when you fit a standard 5-wood it goes too far,” said Rietveld. “You don’t want to add loft to a 5-wood because it closes the face, so we built a 5-wood spec in a 7-wood head. It has the dynamics of a 5-wood, but the spin and launch conditions of a 7-wood to produce the carry number he wants with that club.”

12 WORLDWIDE WINS WITH SPIDER TOUR X

Since the start of 2024, Scottie has captured 12 worldwide wins with his Spider Tour X putter, including two majors and a gold medal.

“In testing at the end of 2023, we identified something that could help him know he was striking the ball on the center of the face,” said Rietveld. “Instead of the sight dot he had on his blade, we started to re-introduce True Path and we were on to something in terms of his eyes and what he thought he was doing versus what he was actually doing when hitting his putts. With a Spider putter there’s so much tech that you can see and also not see, all helping him hit better putts more often.”

SCOTTIE’S P·7TW IRONS
Scottie’s precision iron play is the stuff legends are made of. The story of how he decided to put P·7TW irons in his bag is pretty compelling. He was playing P·730 irons during the final of the 2020 Masters alongside Tiger Woods. Inspired by Woods’ iron play, he wanted to try P·7TW irons for himself.

After a testing session back home in Dallas proved next level playability without sacrificing distance, Scheffler put the P·7TW’s in the bag. Since the switch, he has won 16 PGA TOUR events, two green jackets, and a PGA Championship while setting records that have only been done by Tiger himself.

“What I noticed when I hit them at home was, I was able to hit different windows. So when I flighted it down, I could pitch it lower than I could the P·730,” he said. “When I wanted to hit it up, I could hit it higher and I saw more variability in the shots and then the distance control was basically the exact same. I saw the benefits of being able to flight it down and keep it flatter and not have that overspin with a little bit more variety.”
