SA World Club Pro-Am added to PGAs of Europe schedule

The PGAs of Europe has announced that the 2016 PGA of SA World Club Pro-Am has been added to the Association’s tournament schedule and takes place from 27 February to the 5 March in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. The inclusion of the event to the schedule marks the first African-based PGAs of Europe Sanctioned Event and sees the Association partner with one of its International Members, the PGA of South Africa, to promote and operate the event.

After two successful editions so far, the event is set to combine outstanding playing conditions of 90 holes across four championship courses – Zimbali Country Club, Durban Country Club, Prince’s Grant Golf Estate and Cotswold Downs Golf Estate – along with prize fund payouts up to 60th place.

The PGA professionals will compete in an individual Stableford format competition for a US$33,000 cash first prize. The teams will compete in a four round Pro-Am tournament consisting of three rounds of combined Betterball Stableford and a single round of Fourball Alliance Stableford for the Team Pro-Am trophy. A total prize purse of US$210,000 will be paid out that includes cash for the professionals and US$50,000 in golf apparel for the daily amateur prize winners, plus two luxury hole-in-one cars for the professional and amateur as separate prizes.

Ivano Ficalbi, chief executive of the PGA of South Africa said, “We are pleased to announce that the entries for the third World Club ProAm are officially open and teams who have been waiting have been quick to secure their spots for 2016. This tournament, the only club pro-am of its kind in the world, has come a long way since we announced the inaugural event at the 2012 PGAs of Europe Annual Congress in Portugal, and we are proud to say that it just keeps getting better and better.”

Entry for amateurs is US$4,995 each. The PGA professional’s travel, accommodation and golf is sponsored by the organisers as the fourth member of the team. The package includes five days of competitive golf, and seven nights five-star accommodation sharing. More at: www.worldclubproam.com
