Rick Shiels Runs for It’s Never You

Golf’s biggest YouTube star Rick Shiels will join Ceri Menai-Davis, Director of The Shire London and The Inspiration Club, in running the London Marathon later this month in memory of Ceri’s son Hugh.

The pair, who are both PGA Golf Professionals, will be raising funds for ‘It’s Never You,’ a charity founded by Ceri and his wife Frances following the loss of Hugh to a rare form of cancer in 2021 at the age of six.

This will be the second year Rick has joined Ceri to support ‘It’s Never You’ and raise awareness of the plight of parents of children with cancer.

“I’m honoured to join Ceri in support of ‘It’s Never You’,” said Rick. “Ceri and Frances are a true inspiration and I’m proud to be able to help raise awareness of their incredible work. A year on from our first London Marathon together I’m a lot more prepared and cannot wait to get started, I’ll be digging deep and focusing on the people we’ll be able to help.”

Since completing the 2023 marathon, Ceri and Frances have succeeded in bringing a private member’s bill to parliament with the support of their local M.P. Hugh’s Law was passed on January 19th, laying the ground for providing increased financial support for the parents of sick children.

“Having the bill passed by parliament was a huge step forward in the work of the charity but we don’t want to stop there,” commented Ceri. “I’m so grateful to Rick for his support once again. Together we can raise crucial funds to continue the work and create a legacy in Hugh’s name that will change the lives of parents and children in the years ahead.”
