Paradise Island Adventure Golf sold to Brighton Pier Group

With every golf facility in the UK looking for an edge over their competitors, modern US-style crazy golf has been a great way of getting kids and non-golfers introduced to the game. It’s also profitable. Paradise Island Adventure golf has just been sold to the Brighton Pier Group for £10.5 Million.

Paradise Island Adventure Golf is an indoor miniature golf business currently operating in six prime retail and leisure centres across Scotland and the North of England. Two further sites are scheduled to open by 2020.

Currently, the business has sites in Glasgow, Livingston, Manchester, Sheffield, Cheshire Oaks, and Derby.

The company was founded by Eddie Dantzic and Joshua Dantzic in 2005 and the successful, long-serving management team will remain with the business following the acquisition and help grow the business.

Miniature golf is a traditional family friendly pastime, suitable for all ages. It is an affordable and interactive complement to other shopping centre entertainment facilities such as bowling alleys or the cinema.

Paradise Island Adventure Golf operates in a distinct niche of the UK leisure segment. The Company is focussed on high footfall retail centres and developments benefiting from the increasing convergence of retail and leisure. Against the backdrop of increasing demand for novel, experiential offerings as part of the retail experience, Paradise Island has enjoyed strong and profitable growth since inception and is the market leading adventure golf operator in the UK.

Brighton Pier Group’s acquisition of Lethington Leisure is consistent with its strategy of developing its portfolio of experiential leisure and entertainment assets in the UK. The revenue stream from Paradise Island Adventure Golf is less seasonal than that of Brighton Pier, which will improve the distribution of earnings across Brighton Pier Group while complimentary revenue streams and cross selling opportunities can be developed to further enhance the Paradise Island Adventure Golf offering. This acquisition signals Brighton Pier Group’s confidence in its ability to be a long-term consolidator within the sector.

The acquisition will complete on Friday 8th December 2017, following a successful fundraising by The Brighton Pier Group.

Commenting on the acquisition Luke Johnson, Executive Chairman of The Brighton Pier Group said:

“It is part of The Brighton Pier Group’s strategy to acquire growing experiential leisure and entertainment destinations. Paradise Island Adventure Golf operates in the growing social competition leisure sector in UK. Such facilities are known drivers of footfall as retail and leisure centres look to provide affordable entertainment for families and friends, which complement their retail and food offerings.

“We are excited by the opportunity to bring Paradise Island Adventure Golf into the group and will now turn our attention to expanding its footprint across the UK, having already identified a number of potential additional locations.”
