Oscar Jacobson Ambassador, Richard Bland, has picked straight up from his career best season in 2021 with a fantastic start to the new campaign at the Dubai Desert Classic.
Bland, 48, narrowly missed out on his second career win, as Viktor Hovland sunk a birdie putt on the first playoff hole. Bland joined Hovland in a tie for the lead in the clubhouse following a birdie-birdie finish that took him to 12 under. As the pair returned to the 18th tee for the playoff, Bland found a difficult lie with his second shot before holing out for a par, while Hovland took the win with a birdie.
“It’s great to see Richard pick up where he left off last season,” commented Graeme Stevens, M.D. for Oscar Jacobson in the U.K. & Ireland. “Richard has been a fantastic ambassador for Oscar Jacobson for a number of years, so it’s great to see him achieving such success. I think the confidence he’s gained from the last 12 months is really showing and I expect to see him playing late on a Sunday several more times this year.”
Through the Dubai Desert Classic, Bland wore the CHAP TOUR Polo and DAVENPORT Trouser demonstrating that with Oscar Jacobson style and performance are timeless.
Bland achieved six Top 5 finishes on the European / DP World Tour in 2021, two better than any other player, plus his first career win in his 478th start at the British Masters. With his first Top 5 of the new season in the bag, 2022 is shaping up to be another successful year for the Englishman.
