Original Penguin®, a division of Perry Ellis International, Inc., is proud to congratulate brand ambassador, Jake Knapp, on securing his maiden PGA TOUR victory at the Mexico Open at Vidanta.
In a thrilling display of power and touch, Knapp navigated the challenging Vidanta Vallarta course with precision and grace, ultimately coming out on top with a two-shot victory. The 29-year-old finished the event second in driving distance and did not miss a putt inside five feet throughout the week.
“We are thrilled to see Jake emerge victorious at the Mexico Open, proudly wearing Original Penguin apparel,” said Oscar Feldenkreis, President and CEO of Perry Ellis International. “His win is a testament to his talent and dedication to the sport, and marks a significant milestone in his professional career. We are honored to be part of his journey and look forward to continued success together as Jake embodies the spirit of our brand’s timeless style coupled with exceptional performance.”
With the win, Knapp jumped up to eighth in the FedExCup standings and a personal best 52nd in the Official World Golf Rankings. The victory also secured Knapp a spot in the 2024 Masters, PGA Championship and the five remaining PGA TOUR Signature Events.
“Winning on the PGA TOUR is a dream come true for me and I am incredibly thankful for the unwavering encouragement from my team and fans,” stated Knapp. “I didn’t have my best stuff today. I knew it would be nerve wracking but I am super pumped with how I played the finishing stretch and was able to grind it out.”
Throughout the week, Knapp wore Original Penguin’s Spring 2024 collection featuring its new Re-Originals sustainable fabrication. These eco-friendly polos are crafted with 30% recycled polyester and use a double-knit high-gauge fabrication for superior performance that helped keep Knapp cool and calm in the hot and humid conditions. Pairing these elevated materials with Original Penguin’s modern fit, Knapp delivered a winning look in route to victory.
