Number of golfers in England increases

The latest edition of KPMG’s Golf Participation Report for Europe 2017 has revealed that the number of registered golfers in England has increased from 665,103 to 694,623 – a rise of 4.4 per cent from 2015 to 2016.

The report also showed that in 2016 46 per cent of counties in Europe showed growth in registered golfers compared to 30 per cent in 2015. Just 19 per cent of counties experienced a decline, compared to 33 per cent in 2015.

England still has the largest number of registered golfers in Europe, with the country accounting for 16 per cent of registered golfers, although Germany is now only one point behind at 15. England also has the highest number of golf courses with nearly 2,000 and counts for 27 per cent of the European golf supply.
