Jorge Campillo signs for Callaway

Callaway has announced the addition of Spaniard Jorge Campillo to its impressive line-up of PGA European Tour players competing during the 2020 season.

The 33-year-old from Caceras starts the new season having already tasted victory in 2019, winning the Trophee Hassan II tournament in Morocco by two shots. He also recorded runners-up positions in the Oman Open and the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters.

After attending the Spanish National Training Centre as a junior golfer, Jorge opted to play college golf at Indiana University in the USA. He went on to become one of the most successful players in the University’s history, winning nine intercollegiate titles.

His success continued when he turned professional in 2009, recording Top 10 finishes on the European and Challenge Tours, before his breakthrough year in 2011 saw him record two runners-up finishes on the Challenge Tour.

On signing for Callaway, Jorge commented: “The brand has a strong reputation for designing fantastic products that make a real difference to your performance. In the heat of competitive play, when every little extra ounce of confidence makes a huge difference, I’m happy that I will be relying on Callaway and Odyssey in 2020.”

Peter Harrison, Director of Tour Relations, Callaway Golf EMEA, added: “Jorge knows what it takes to win. He has been a consistent achiever throughout his career and we look forward to supporting his goals in 2020 and beyond, as he seeks further success on the European Tour.”
