Horsey wins M2M Russian Open with Callaway kit

Callaway staff pro David Horsey won a playoff to secure the M2M Russian Open, his third European Tour title. He shot rounds of 65, 68, 70, 72 plus a par on the seventy-third hole to secure victory in Moscow and the winner’s cheque for €166,660. The 29-year old holed a chip shot with his Mack Daddy 2 wedge for eagle on his penultimate hole at the Tseleevo Golf & Polo Club to force the playoff with Damien McGrane and then won on the first extra hole.

Horsey used a Callaway X2 Hot driver and fairway wood to hit 83.9 percent of fairways over the four days. He was also accurate with his Odyssey PT16 Protype putter, averaging 26.8 putts per round playing the Callaway Speed Regime 3 golf ball. His win gains Horsey a European Tour exemption until the end of 2015 and a place in the 2015 Volvo Golf Champions.

Commenting on his performance, Horsey said, “I knew the chip on 17 had to go in. I knew by that point that I was three behind so I needed it to go in. This is a very special win.”
