FEDEXCUP Champion gives KBS a great season finale

KBS enjoyed a great finale to the tournament season as the new FedEx Cup Champion dialled in his short game to claim victory at the Tour Championship and give the innovative shaft brand its 15th post-lockdown victory and more than 30 wins worldwide during 2019/20.

Better known for its pioneering iron shafts, KBS Tour Custom Black 120S shafts featured in the wedges and the CT Tour shaft in the putter used by the new World #1 player at East Lake, as well as his other outstanding performances in winning the Travellers Championship at TPC River Highlands and The Northern Trust Open at TPC Boston.

The popular putter shaft helped the 2016 US Open winner to hole a remarkable 10 putts from outside 30-feet during the post-lockdown tournament period and guided him to a 1.704 (3rd place) putting average across the 2019-2020 season.

Other recent victories featuring different KBS shafts have included the 3M Open (KBS $-TAPER 130g shafts in irons and wedges) and the Wyndham Championship (KBS Tour 125g irons) on the PGA Tour, plus two wins from the same player on The European Tour at the Hero Open and Celtic Classic (KBS C-TAPER 130g in his irons) and recently another victory at the ISPS HANDA UK Championship (KBS C-Taper125 S+ and KBS Custom Black Wedge shafts).

An 18th Major win for the brand was added at the AIG Women’s Open (KBS C-TAPER 105 irons in Black, HI-REV 2.0 115g wedges and a Graphite Hybrid Prototype 85g), while the high-profile ladies Scottish Open winner was using KBS Tour Graphite 80g in her irons and wedges. The US Amateur winner also had KBS 610 shafts in all his wedges. Further victories also came on the PGA Champions Tour (Charles Schwab Series and Ally Challenge) and the Korn Ferry Tour (Portland Open and TPC San Antonio Championship).

“To have the number worldwide winners across so many Tours is a testament not only to the quality of our shafts and the players using them, but our staff who work hard to deliver the best shafts possible through every club in the bag,” said Rhett Taylor, Marketing Manager at KBS Golf. “Since KBS was established in 2008, we’ve had almost 350 Tour wins around the world and more than 300 elite players play our shafts,” he added.

Led by renowned shaft designer Kim Braly, the brand launched into the wood market at the end of last year with the KBS TD Graphite Wood shaft. This product finally enabled club fitters to custom fit in every club in the bag – making KBS the first single branded shaft company to do so.

KBS now offers 29 different shafts through the bag, including 18 iron options featuring different weights, flexes and reliability. There are also four wedge shafts, one putter and a hybrid shaft. In addition to the new TG Graphite Wood shaft, there are four limited edition ‘Black’ options. All the KBS shafts are designed to fit the broadest range of golfers – from global Tour stars to accomplished amateurs and even juniors.
