Euro Solheim Cup team apparel gets finishing touch

With the 2015 Solheim Cup drawing closer, Abacus Sportswear, the Official Apparel Supplier to the European Team, is working alongside SymaPrint, a specialist embroidery and printing company, to finalise the garments being sent to Golf Club St Leon Rot in Germany for the biennial event. SymaPrint has worked with Abacus Sportswear on the European Solheim Cup team outfits since the 2011 event and will spend more than 100 hours embroidering the event’s new logo onto over 5,000 garments, including the 1,608 items intended for the twelve players, captain, vice-captains, caddies, team assistants, officials and guests.

The European Team logo, which includes gold stars on a blue background either side of the crystal trophy, is made up of 9,493 individual stitches and will adorn a variety of garments, including polo shirts, jumpers and jackets.

Chris Mattsson, head designer at Abacus Sportswear commented, “It is a very intricate process to successfully embroider The Solheim Cup logo onto all the garments. The devil is in the detail and paying close attention to the finer points can sometimes make all the difference. With the 2015 Solheim Cup set to be the most televised in the event’s history, it is critical all of the players look as good as possible to help best promote women’s golf – and it is our job to ensure that happens.”
