England Golf championing sun protection

To prioritise the wellbeing of players, staff and spectators, England Golf has collaborated with the Melanoma Fund to integrate sun protection into their Championship tournaments this summer.

As part of their support of the charity’s Slip! Slap! Swing! campaign, and in alignment with England Golf Championship events, the national governing body will ensure SPF50 sunscreen will be readily accessible to attendees, through branded wall-mounted sunboards and tabletop dispensers.

Michelle Baker, CEO of the Melanoma Fund, said; “England Golf wields powerful influence in the sector and will be sending out a clear message to other tournament directors and golf clubs. This is not just about providing free sunscreen, it’s about leading by example, a move that will raise awareness of sun protection to impact skin cancer.”

England Golf Championships Director James Crampton said; “Golfers clearly spend a lot of time in the sunshine so it’s essential that they take sun protection seriously. Making sunscreen more accessible will help change attitudes and habits around sun protection making golf a safer sport for all.”
