Leading golf shoe brand Duca del Cosma is running a special trade-in promotion with its customers over the next two months offering golfers £25 off a new pair of Duca shoes in exchange for any make of unwanted shoes being refurbished and distributed in emerging markets.
Designed to drive up sales at the start of the season, The Great DUCA Trade-in promotion begins on Friday (1 April) with POS material displayed at hundreds of Pro Shops across the UK and Ireland until the end of May.
The Italian brand – which has stockists amongst Foremost Golf, TGI, EuroSelect and other specialist golf retailers – has also partnered with the Recyclatex reuse and recycling group to collect and refurbish all discarded shoes before distributing them in Africa, India and Eastern Europe to give budding golfers the opportunity to play in high quality shoes.
“We are thrilled to have the backing of so many of our customers in handling the trade-in of unwanted old golf shoes and to partner with Recyclatex to support sustainable golf and help grow the game in emerging markets at the same time,” said Tony Eccleston, Sales Director of Duca del Cosma in the UK & Ireland. “The generous incentive of £25 off a new pair of Duca hand-crafted shoes from our latest Men’s and Women’s ranges is likely to appeal to a lot of golfers looking to freshen up their golf shoes as the season gets under way and we hope it will boost sales for stockists at such an important time,” he added.
Duca del Cosma stockists are being asked to keep the discarded pairs handed to them in large boxes – such as golf trolley containers – for collection by DPD that Recyclatex will arrange at the end of the promotion. Each matching pair of unwanted shoes needs to be tied together and the stockist retain a receipt of the transaction as the golfer purchases the new pair of handcrafted Duca shoes.
The best-performing retail partner in the promotion will win a pair of new shoes for his or her club’s Men’s and Ladies’ Captains, plus the opportunity to enter a 4-ball group in one of four televised Trilby Tour events supported by Duca this summer.
“This is a very exciting project for the Recyclatex Group and we’re delighted to be partnering with Duca del Cosma and its customers to make golf more sustainable,” said Chairman Ross Barry. “Although it’s the first time we’ve been involved in collecting, refurbishing and distributing golf shoes, as a non-profit organisation made up of nine companies in the reuse and recycling industry, we have a lot of experience of putting discarded items to good use.”
