Double hole-in-one makes it time for Boss watch

Ian Law, 44, an amateur member at Upminster Golf Club hit two holes-in-one, on the same hole, in a fortnight! He recorded his first ace in a social round with friends on the 131-yard, par-three eighteenth. When he was next due to play in a monthly medal, the club’s competition secretary, Dennis Broadway, stood alongside the eighteenth green waiting to take Law’s picture when he completed his round.

Law explained, “I teed off first, from the back tees, and there was a stiff wind against, so I took an extra club. I hit a lovely shot which hit the green, which is protected by bunkers and trees, and took a few hops. Then we saw it drop in the hole and when Dennis, who was greenside, put his thumbs up, our group was ecstatic. They were astounded that I had done it again. I joked to Dennis that I saw him there waiting for me and thought I had to get another hole-in-one.”

Law’s second ace entitled him to win a limited-edition Boss watch because he scored it in an official club competition. Boss has pledged to reward club golfers with an exclusive watch for every hole-in-one recorded during a qualifying club competition in 2014 after giving away £600,000-worth of limited-edition mementos in 2013. The scheme is open to any golfer whose club uses the HowDidiDo free-to-use, social network for golfers and anybody playing in official club competitions is eligible. Currently, more than 1,800 clubs use the website.

In addition to the limited-edition watch, Law is also awarded membership of the Boss Watches H1 Club which offers its members access to exclusive benefits and merchandise. No extra registration is required to participate in the Boss Watches promotion as all official club competitions are recorded on the HowDidiDo system, so holes-in-one are noted and automatically ratified by the golfer’s club.
