Cleveland Golf has announced the launch of its all-new CBZ Wedge, the brand’s most advanced cavity back design to date and the first to feature its proprietary Z-Alloy material.
The wedge blends the feel of a blade with the forgiveness of a cavity back, aiming to give golfers versatility, consistency and control around the greens. At the core is Z-Alloy, a new steel formula that Cleveland says is lighter, softer and more responsive than traditional materials. According to the brand, the CBZ Wedge is 25% softer than the previous CBX 4 ZipCore, while retaining durability.
“When Z-Alloy was first developed, it was engineered to outperform every wedge material on the market, including 431 stainless steel, which is commonly found in cavity-back wedges. While 431 is certainly durable, its hardness and lower density come at the expense of feel. Z-Alloy changes all that. It’s noticeably softer and less dense than 431, providing tour-level feedback traditionally associated with blade wedges. Now, golfers who favour cavity-back models no longer have to compromise on feel,” said Joe Miller, European Product Manager at Cleveland Golf.

The CBZ Wedge incorporates the same technologies found in the RTZ model, including ZipCore for optimised centre of gravity, UltiZip grooves for consistent spin, and HydraZip face technology to maintain performance in wet or challenging conditions. A redesigned Gelback TPU insert, now almost double the size, reduces vibrations and enhances feel on mishits.

Players can also choose a Full-Face option, with hosel-to-toe grooves and an extended high-toe area designed to improve performance on open-face and off-centre shots. Cleveland has matched grinds and bounce to each loft, simplifying selection for golfers while ensuring forgiveness and versatility.
For the first time in a cavity-back wedge, golfers will also be able to customise their CBZ with bespoke ferrules and grips, giving them more opportunity to personalise their clubs.
The new CBZ and CBZ Full-Face Wedges will retail at £159 / €189 and will be available in lofts from 44° to 60° (CBZ) and 50° to 60° (CBZ Full-Face) from 5 September.
