Bunker Mentality has launched its most dynamic collection to date with its ‘Crank up the Colour’ Collection for 2019. Bunker’s style is defined by the use of dynamic colour, graphic energy and attention to detail, and a mentality that ‘dares to be different’. Golf is a game of traditions and making an effort to dress well is part of that heritage. Bunker creates a very modern British style, drawing influence from the 70’s and 80’ when the likes of Seve, Jack Nicklaus and Greg Norman sported strong colour accents and brought a sense of individuality to the game. In a sea of grey, Bunker Mentality dares to be different with their new collection. ‘Tired of blending in, change your mentality’.
Bunker Mentality’s Founder and Creative Director Robert Hart said: “ For us, golf is our sport, it’s our obsession and we are daring to be different focusing on bringing style back to the course. We take inspriation from a Kurt Cobain quote (Nirvana) which is mounted in our Design Studio and pretty much reflects our mentality.
“They laugh at me because I’m different; I laugh at them because they are all the same”
Bunker have grown their collection again for 2019 with more depth in each product range and colour story. One of the traditions of golf is to ‘dress well’ and our customers have been asking for more of our Game Day Outfits to pull their collections together. The golf lifestyle our customer leads allows us to create some very cool ‘game changing’ looks.”
Several things make the Bunker Collection different, such as the adventurous use of colour whilst at the same time, their attention to detail for which the brand has become well know. “We would never do a basic polo shirt with our logo just placed on it, we believe every product should have a reason for being, often highlighted by little interesting ‘twists’ in the design” say Hart.
The SS2019 collection comprises of Cmax polo, trousers, shorts, midlayers, zippers, jackets and an extensive range of belts and hats to complement any outfit. A three teired price structure for polo’s with an opening Core range at £40, Modern Classics at £50 and “full Bunker” Design Polos at £60. We also offer a full personalisation service using either embroidery or heat applied decoration.
Bunker has a strong reputation for creating ‘game day’ outfits throughout their collections and the trousers are very much a foundation for those, priced at £69 RRP. SS2019 sees a new trouser range added using a unique ‘stay press’ functional fabric with a Durable Water Resistant coating (DWR), to make golf life style easier wherever the player wants to play. Shorts also continue to be a growing part of the collection. Several new styles have been added using bold colours and printed patterns featuring the Paisley pattern that is becoming synonymous with the brand. “We have made the Paisley pattern our own in golf, very British design and it emphasises our heritage” says Hart.
Bunker continues with the use of Polygiene on all their CMax polo shirts, a unique silver salt solution added to the finishing of the fabric to create an ‘odour free’ solution, reinforcing that functionality is paramount in all that they do. “We believe in design and being adventurous and creative in whatever we do, which comes through in our technical CMax Shirt collection. We always believe you should look cool and stay cool by wearing a technical shirt. Design always before function as the latter is the easy part” says Hart.
The brand has grown dramatically over the last year as it has made a successful return to wholesale in the UK, opened an office and warehouse in Florida to service their emerging US market and established a succesful licence partner in South Korea.
In addition to their growth of distribution, Bunker is also branching out into creating unique golf events, building on their successful BunkerFest Event which ran for 4 years.
