ALEX NOREN WINS BMW PGA CHAMPIONSHIP WITH CALLAWAY OPUS SP WEDGES

Callaway Staff Professional and recently named European Ryder Cup Vice-Captain, Alex Noren, captured his 12th DP World Tour title today at the BMW PGA Championship. The Swede, who also won last month’s Betfred British Masters, secured his second career victory at Wentworth and now stands alone as the most successful Swedish player in DP World Tour history.

Noren’s success was sealed in dramatic fashion on the first playoff hole, where he produced a brilliant chip over water using his new Callaway Opus SP wedge to set up the winning birdie. The shot underlined the short-game control delivered by the Opus SP line, which features Callaway’s re-engineered Spin Pocket technology to optimise CG locations, promote a penetrating launch and generate exceptional spin.

This marks one of the fastest Tour conversions for a new Callaway wedge, with more than 30 Opus SP models already in play at recent events by players including Xander Schauffele, Jon Rahm and Min Woo Lee. Noren gamed a full complement of four Opus SP wedges (46°, 50°, 56°, 60°).

In addition to his wedge set-up, Noren also carried the recently launched Apex UW 26 — a utility wood designed with Tour feedback to deliver the perfect blend of fairway wood distance and hybrid versatility. The club’s consistency and control proved invaluable on Wentworth’s demanding layout.
