Adrian Otaegui claimed his fifth DP World Tour title on Sunday, after he climbed the leaderboard during the final round to win the Volvo China Open.
The Spaniard, who uses the new Paradym Ai Smoke Triple Diamond Driver, started Sunday’s final round five shots off the lead at Hidden Grace Golf Club, Shenzhen, China, but a brilliant 7-under par score of 65 in stormy weather conditions saw Otaegui go on and win by one.
Otaegui’s win means he finished in the top three of the Asian Swing rankings, earning him a place at the upcoming PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club.

“I’m very, very happy – I’m extremely happy,” said Otaegui. “I had to wait a little bit since I finished, see what was happening in the final group but luckily for me, things turned up well and I’m extremely happy.
“Getting to the PGA Championship is great news. Playing majors this year was a big goal for me, so now I can have some rest for the next few weeks and then head to America.”
Over half of the field at the Volvo China Open had an Odyssey putter in the bag and Otaegui was full of confidence on the greens, saying: “I have been putting well, I was feeling more and more confident through the week with the putter and I knew if I had birdie chances that I could potentially hole a few. I think I was actually feeling more calm through the round.”
