Srixon staffer Matsuyama secures impressive victory at The Sony Open with sudden death eagle

SRIXON congratulates staff player Hideki Matsuyama on capturing the Sony Open in Hawaii. Trailing by 5-shots with just 9 holes to play on Sunday, the current Masters Champion produced 4 birdies on the back 9 to force his way into a playoff. In clinical style, he then hit a commanding 3-wood second shot on the par 5 18th hole, to just a few feet from the hole, to set him up with a tap in eagle and a hard-earned victory.

Commenting on his win, Matsuyama said, “I am extremely happy and privileged to win the Sony Open which Japanese professional golf legend, Isao Aoki also won in the past. I think the key that made this win was ZX7 driver as it allowed me to control my shots perfectly, and obviously the XV ball performed great in the high winds in Hawaii.”

The win is Matsuyama’s 8th PGA Tour victory and moves him straight to the top of the season-long FedEx Cup rankings.

Hideki was using the following Srixon and Cleveland Golf equipment at the Sony Open:

Wedges: Cleveland Golf RTX 4 prototype 46* 52*, 56*, 60*
