New Murrayshall General Manager makes move up from Gleneagles

Murrayshall Country House Hotel and Golf Club are delighted to announce the appointment of Gary Silcock as the hotel’s new General Manager with immediate effect.

A well-known and respected figure within the international hotel and golf industries, Gary has held prominent leadership roles at the likes of La Manga Club, The Belfry, and most recently, Gleneagles where he was the Director of Golf.

During his tenure at Gleneagles, the resort won the accolade of Number 1 Golf Resort in the UK for two successive years, ‘Best Golf Experience’ at the 59 Club awards, and claimed Best European Golf Resort at the annual IGTM awards. The King’s Course also moved from 49 to 27 in UK rankings.

Gary joins Murrayshall at a time when the property is flourishing, with room bookings and golf rounds played at a record high following an extremely busy, post-lockdown summer. This has been further reaffirmed by the resort’s golf club taking on 177 new members so far in 2020.

‘Living nearby I am well aware of the quality and stature of Murrayshall and am looking forward to working in partnership with the team at the hotel to showcase and celebrate our incredible offering both locally and globally,’ commented Silcock.

‘This is a fantastic opportunity and there is no doubt in my mind that, with continued investment and hard work, Murrayshall has the potential to be ranked amongst the very best golf and lifestyle resorts in the UK.’

Located in the heart of Scotland, amidst glorious Perthshire countryside near the town of Scone, the 365-acre Murrayshall estate, with its 40 luxurious rooms & suites, an award-winning restaurant, and 27-holes of championship golf has long been popular with local and international guests.

Commenting on behalf of Murrayshall, Jonathan Gain, Chief Executive of Stellar Asset Management noted: ‘With over 200 applicants for the role, many of which had a lot to offer, Gary was a leading candidate from the outset.

His experience working at some of the finest golf destinations in the UK and Europe, plus strong operational knowledge, strategic vision and leadership qualities will be a huge asset to us.

We have seen the benefits of the extensive renovation programme we implemented two years ago, investing in excess of £2 million into the estate and now we want to take that to the next level; something I am extremely confident we can achieve under the leadership of Gary.’
