Golfers hit half-a-million mark with Motocaddy GPS App

More than half-a-million rounds of golf worldwide have now been played using the free Motocaddy GPS app. The brand’s popular mobile phone app has also been downloaded by more than 50,000 golfers since its launch last year and can be used with Motocaddy’s growing range of CONNECT enabled models.

According to the world’s leading trolley brand, the overwhelming success of the app provides retailers with another key selling tool ahead of a busy summer period.

Jon Dean, Director of Golf at Bearwood Lakes in Surrey, sees the potential and believes the impact of the GPS enabled CONNECT models has been a real game changer.

“The Motocaddy CONNECT models haven’t just changed the trolley market, they’ve changed the whole golf market. Our members have embraced the new technology and are upgrading from their old trolleys.

“The features such as the distance data on the trolley handle and the USB charging port have made life easier for golfers and it’s encouraged them to invest more,” he added.

The innovative features that appear on the CONNECT Smart Carts are what golfers are looking for in today’s market, according to Matthew Gardner, Golf Manager and PGA Professional at Barnham Broom Golf Club in Norfolk.

“The Motocaddy CONNECT models offer two products rolled into one, they’re not just quality trolleys with useful features, but the GPS offering is very appealing. This is where Motocaddy are so good as they think about the golfers needs out on the course.”

The revolutionary S5 CONNECT, CUBE CONNECT push trolley and the new compact M5 CONNECT can all be synced to the app on any compatible smartphone; allowing the trolley’s digital display to be used in place of a conventional GPS. The free app can also be used independent of the trolley, as a fully-featured mobile GPS device for complete portability.

Stand-out features accessable through the app include distance data for over 40,000 courses around the world, providing golfers front, middle and back distances to the green (in yards or metres) along with the hole number, par of the hole and clock.

Recent OTA (Over-the-Air) updates have seamlessly upgraded CONNECT models with a range of new features and enhancements, including shot distance measurements and the ability to pause and reset the round timer – both controllable directly from the trolley handle.

Offering the ultimate on-course connectivity, the CONNECT models – when synced to the free Motocaddy GPS app via a Bluetooth® smartphone connection can also receive notifications alerting golfers of a missed call, text, email or range of app alerts, including WhatsApp and Facebook.

Notifications can be pre-set within the Motocaddy app settings, giving the golfer complete control over which are received. The mobile phone can remain connected even when securely placed in the pocket of a golf bag.

“It’s so gratifying to to hear the trade’s appreciation of our CONNECT models and how much the features incorporated on the models aid golfers out on the course,” said Sales Director Neil Parker. “Sales of CONNECT enabled products now account for a growing proportion of Motocaddy trolley sales and the popularity of the app is helping create demand in the market, which our stockists can take full advantage of,” he added.
