Young winners at Stonham Barns GC

Henry Meadows, an eight-year old member of Fynn Valley Golf Club scored 34 (five over par) to win the first junior tournament at Stonham Barns in 2015. His round included a great birdie two on the 105 yard eighth hole. Henry’s score was the best overall score of the day and also helped him win the Under Eight category by three shots from Charlie Goodridge from Bury Golf Club who scored a 37 (eight over par).

The Under Ten category was won by Sawyer Osbourn, a ten year old from Lakenheath Golf Club, who score a 35 (six over par) and the Under Twelve category was won by Luke Green from Diss Golf Club with a score of 43. There was a special mention for Finlay Brock from Ufford Park and Jake Bloom from Stonham Barns, the two six-year olds taking part.

Stonham Barns have been running Junior Tournaments for over 16 years and currently run eight events through the year for youngsters to experience playing in Junior Golf Tournaments in a friendly relaxed environment. All juniors from four to 15 years old (boys and girls) are welcome to play whatever their standard or ability.

The events are usually the last Sunday of each month from April to November and feature the Stonham Under Twelve Junior Flag Tournament in May, the East Anglian Under Twelve Junior Golf Championship in June and the Stonham Barns Players Championship in November. There are prizes for all the different age categories, Under Eight, Under Ten, Under Twelve and Under 15.
