Year of endurance hell for Stewart Golf’s CEO

Stewart Golf CEO Mark Stewart has completed a summer of endurance events, raising more than £3000 for the Sparks Charity.

Inspired by the 2012 Olympic games, Mark decided that he wanted to put himself through a year of endurance events to raise money for Sparks, a charity that Stewart Golf have supported for many years. He crossed the line on the last of 6 of the UK’s toughest events on Saturday, September 21st with a welcome cold pint waiting for him.

Triathlon: Mark completed THREE full Olympic length triathlons, each consisting of a 1500m open water swim, a 40km cycle followed by a 10km run. The last of these was completed in searing 42 degree heat, adding another level of difficulty.

RideLondon 100: The inaugural 100 mile bike event started and finished in London, via the brutal Box Hill and Leith Hill climbs among others.

Tough Mudder: Through not one but two, 12 mile Tough Mudder events, Mark & his team tackled more than 30 obstacles designed by British Special Forces including ice-water, 12 foot wall climbs, crawls through mud under barbed wire and 10,000 volt electric shocks.

In completing these events, Mark swam over 4500m, cycled 290,000m and ran 70,000m (not including the miles incurred in preparation for this year of pain!). The total raised for Sparks currently stands at just over £3000, smashing the ambitious £2k target that Mark set originally. Donations are still very welcome at justgiving.com/StewartGolf13.

Mark said, “These events have all been very testing in their own right, when you add them all together it’s been quite a year! I have been very humbled by the donations that friends, family, customers and suppliers have made, some of whom I’ve never even met.

“Sparks is a fantastic charity and we’re proud to support them here at Stewart Golf. I don’t know what my next challenge event will be, but we’ll certainly continue to support their activities as much as we can.”
