The No. 1 player in the world earned top honours in Paris, rolling his  Pro V1 golf ball  in for four birdies over his final five holes to win by one shot.

The champion, who also gamed  three Vokey Design wedges, closed in 9-under 62, including a back-nine 29 to complete the comeback victory.

Over the four days at Le Golf National, he led the field gaining more than 16 shots tee to green (+4.02 per round), according to DataGolf, including +6.29 on Sunday. He also gained a field-best +9.68 strokes on approach shots (+2.42 per round).

The champion – who leads the PGA TOUR in Strokes Gained: Tee to Green, SG: Approach, Greens in Regulation and is seventh in Scrambling – has also used a Pro V1 golf ball and three Vokey wedges to win each of his 12 PGA TOUR titles, including this season’s six TOUR victories, Masters Tournament and PLAYERS.

1-2 FINISH FOR VOKEY WEDGE PLAYERS IN PARIS

The champion led a 1-2 finish for Vokey wedge players at Le Golf National, with both players posting four rounds in the 60’s to earn their top finishes.

The World No. 1 has consistently played a setup of three Vokey wedges (Vokey Design SM8 50.12F, 56.14F, SM9 WedgeWorks 60T wedges) since making the transition to Vokey wedges from competitive models toward the end of 2020. He played a full set of three Vokeys for the first time at the 2021 Sentry Tournament of Champions in Hawaii.

The World No. 11 plays a  Vokey SM9 60.08M lob wedge.

Among the 60-player field, 46 percent (78) of the gap, sand and lob wedges in play were Vokey Design.

3RD-PLACE FINISHER GAMES SCOTTY CAMERON PUTTER

The third-place finisher in Paris gamed his  Scotty Cameron Newport 2 Timeless GSS tour prototype putter, gaining +1.22 strokes per round on the greens (8th), according to Data Golf.

He won the 2021 Masters playing a similar style Newport 2 model.

VICTOR PEREZ MAKES SUNDAY CHALLENGE AFTER MOVE TO PRO V1x

Victor Perez  made a key equipment change at Le Golf National, making the move to a new Titleist golf ball model for the first time in several seasons, before making his Sunday run up the leaderboard in Paris. Having played a Pro V1 Left Dot since making his PGA TOUR debut in 2020, Perez moved to a  2023 Pro V1x model  for the first time on Thursday.

Perez has always loved how Left Dot performed through the wind but wanted to test options that provided more stopping power at the short end of his set. During early week testing at Le Golf National, he found that Pro V1x gave him more spin and better check with his wedges and improved launch on his long clubs with great wind performance, according to  J.J. Van Wezenbeeck, Titleist Director of Player Promotions, who worked with Perez on site.

On Sunday, Perez posted the day’s second-best round, an 8-under 63 that left him in solo fourth, one shot back of third.

LPGA | Portland Classic

Moriya Jutanugarn  was in complete control of her  Pro V1x en route to earning her third career LPGA title, shooting four rounds in the 60’s (67-69-64-66, 22 under) to win by two shots in Portland. Jutanugarn put on a clinic from tee to green, hitting 50 of 56 fairways in regulation (89%) and 59 of 72 greens in regulation (82%). She made 23 birdies and only surrendered one bogey over 72 holes.

Jutanugarn also led a 1-through-4 finish for Titleist golf ball players, as each of the three players finishing in a tie for second played a Pro V1 or Pro V1x, in addition to seven of the top eight finishers.

1.  Moriya Jutanugarn (Pro V1x)

2.  Narin An (Pro V1)

3.  Nataliya Guseva (Pro V1x)

4.  Angel Yin (Pro V1)
