Two courses close

Austin Lodge Golf Club (pictured) in Kent and Hurst Golf Course in Berkshire have closed. Austin Lodge was owned by Pentland Golf which also operates two more Kent courses: Boughton Golf Club near Faversham and Etchinghill Golf Club near Folkestone. The sale was handled by estate agents Savills with a guide price of £1.2 million It is anticipated that the 235 acre course will revert back to agricultural use.

Hurst Golf Course was a municipal course owned by Wokingham Borough Council. In a meeting on 30 October 2014 the Council Executive decided to close the course just four days later on the following Monday. The council is considering converting the course to footgolf.
