Titleist reigns victorious as #1 ball continues Major streak

The #1 ball in golf continued an unprecedented Major run by extending its winning streak to seven straight wins at the 100th PGA Championship, hosted at Bellerive Country Club. The champion, using Pro V1x, secured his second Major win of the year and became only the fifth player to win the U.S. Open and PGA Championship in the same year.

Titleist was the #1 ball at the PGA Championship with 101 (65%) of the 156-man field, including three of the players that finished in a tie for 4th or better, placing their trust in the performance of the Pro V1 or Pro V1x golf ball, over five times its nearest competitor with 18 (12%), and more than all other brands combined. Titleist has now reached a worldwide ball count of a staggering 18,976 (73%), over seven times its nearest competitor with 2,590 (10%).

With the option to play any ball, the PGA Championship and U.S. Open winner, much like the 2018 Masters and Open Championship winners, chose the Pro V1x golf ball. All three players – and many others – have raced up the Official World Golf Ranking and FedExCup points lists since putting their trust in the #1 ball in golf. The winner of the Wanamaker Trophy also trusted the performance of Vokey Design SM7 wedges (52 and 56), an TVD lob wedge (60) and a Scotty Cameron Newport 2 SLT T10 putter, for his short game success at Bellerive.

The victory also marked Titleist’s third PGA Championship win in a row, Titleist’s 28th of the season on the PGA Tour, 142nd worldwide win, over six times its nearest competitors (21) and a clean sweep for Titleist in the 2018 Majors, with every winner putting their trust in the #1 ball in golf.

A rejuvenated Adam Scott posted his best performance at a Major since winning the 2013 Masters. The Titleist brand ambassador recently switched to the new TS3 driver when it was made available at the U.S. Open. Making the switch evidently payed off for Scott, who averaged 308 yards off the tee. The lone PGA club professional to make the cut, out of the 20 that participated, was Ben Kern from Georgetown (TX) Country Club. Kern played a Pro V1 golf ball and a full bag of Titleist equipment for his milestone achievement.

Titleist also dominated many other equipment categories at the PGA Championship, with more players relying on its products than any other brand when it came to hybrids (28%), irons (25%), wedges (43%) and putters (34%).

There were 28 Titleist drivers in play including 22 new TS Prototype models (nine TS2 models and thirteen TS3 models).
