Three aces for lucky farmer Walker

Andrew Walker has scored three holes-in-ones in 15 days. Walker scored his first ace at his home course of Wath GC on the 248-yard par-four sixth and followed up with his second a week later, on the 137-yard, par-three third. He went on to complete his hat-trick when he returned to the sixth and again used a 22-degree rescue club. The 50-year-old self-employed farmer had never before recorded a hole-in-one.

Walker receives a commemorative Boss watch and entry to the Boss Watches H1Club which has rewarded more than 3,700 golfers with a limited-edition timepiece for scoring a hole-in-one during a club competition. Walker is one of the few golfers to have achieved a hole-in-one on a par-four.

The scheme is open to any golfer whose club uses the HowDidiDo web-based social network for golfers and anybody playing in official club competitions will be eligible. Currently, more than 1,800 clubs use the website.

Walker commented, “There’s no secret to my holes-in-one. I just go for it. One of them was on the sixth hole at Wath, which is a par-three, but the other two were on the par-four sixth. The sixth is a risk-reward hole. You can play it safe or hit it blindly over the trees. To be honest, after a poor start in the Stableford competition, another hole-in-one was the last thing on my mind; it was a good drive, but a bit of a shame as I couldn’t see it.”
