TGI Golf announces Roger Cleveland as keynote speaker

The TGI Golf Partnership has announced that famed club designer Roger Cleveland will be the keynote speaker at its 2016 Business Conference.

Callaway Golf’s Chief Designer will be the main speaker at the event, which takes place at The Belfry, on February 2-3, 2016, and gives the group’s 480-plus Partners the opportunity to acquire new skills from leading figures from inside, and out, of the golf industry.

Cleveland will bring the curtain down on the event – which is free for TGI Golf Partners to attend – following in the footsteps of previous keynote speakers such as Dr Alan Hocknell and Dr Paul Hurrion.

He said: “In the US and for sure in Asia and Australia there is just not enough time spent teaching and demonstrating the techniques of the short game.

“It’s a huge area of opportunity to lower students’ scores the quickest and he or she doesn’t need 120 mph clubhead speed to do it. I will demonstrate how TGI Golf Partners can take advantage of this lost opportunity to engage their members and bring more lessons in this area and very happy customers.”

Other confirmed speakers include Crossover Technologies Managing Director Phil Barnard, Joe O’Connor, Director of Visual Merchandising at Peter Millar and leading accountancy firm Mazars.

Adele McLean, TGI Golf Group Services Manager, said: “We are thrilled to, once again, have a huge figure from the golf industry, in the form of Roger Cleveland, conducting our keynote seminar.

“As well as the draw of listening to such a celebrated figure we have put together a timetable of seminars from industry leaders on a whole range of subjects that will allow our Partners to pick up new skills, fine tune others and continue to set the benchmark for golf retailing excellence.”

The two-day event will also include golf’s leading retail services group’s annual awards, which recognises those Partners and Partner Suppliers who have excelled in 2015, with eight awards up for grabs. Further speakers will be announced in the coming weeks.
