Schaper joins TeamTaylorMade after recently turning professional with an impressive amateur resume. Jayden was first handed a plastic club while on holiday at the age of two and played his first tournament round on the SA Kids Tour aged just six, placing third. Schaper is the first junior in South African golfing history to achieve the ‘grand slam’ of SA Boys titles, winning the U-13, U-15 and U-17 tournaments and the elusive double at the SA Boys U-19 Championship (stroke play and matchplay) as a 16-year-old at Langebaan Golf Club in 2017.

Last year Schaper went on to win the South African Stroke Play Championship before going on to win on the international stage, where he went on to win the Junior Players Championship, which is one of the most prestigious junior golf tournaments in the world.

“It was such an easy decision for me to sign with TaylorMade given the incredible level of support they have provided for me for so long now,” explained Schaper. “The team has always gone above and beyond and has played such a massive part in my career to date. I cannot wait to start this next chapter as part of TeamTaylorMade.”

More recently, after deciding to put TaylorMade’s new SIM Driver straight into play, Jayden made a name for himself on the European Tour at the South African Open in January 2020 where he nearly beat all the professionals playing as an amateur finishing tied sixth, claiming the Freddie Tait Trophy in the process (his seventh South African Title). To put this in perspective, not since Ernie Els in 1989 has an amateur made it in the top six at the South African Open.

Nicknamed ‘The Shaper’ after his uncanny ability to shape the golf ball exactly where he wants to, he has since turned professional as he begins the next phase of his career and has chosen to continue playing a full bag of TaylorMade Equipment and Golf Ball.

“The excitement and anticipation around Jayden is something that in my time at TaylorMade I’m yet to see, from multiple Junior Presidents Cups to becoming the Junior Players Champion, Jayden is a young, extremely gifted golfer ready to turn professional and begin his path to compete against golf’s elite. Our tour team is proud to have worked with Jayden and the people around him for a long time to get to this point. The interest in Jayden from the whole industry has been impressive to see and this makes the fact that Jayden has chosen TaylorMade all the more inspiring, it’s a testament to our people and our equipment that Jayden believes in TaylorMade to reach his goals. Choosing 14 Clubs and a Golf Ball from one manufacturer is a huge decision, but when you have achieved what Jayden has already achieved with TaylorMade, it’s easy to see why he has chosen TaylorMade in every way.” Adrian Rietveld, Senior Manager, Global Sports Marketing
