Sun Mountain unveils single-rider golf scooter

Sun Mountain Motor Sports, an affiliate of the industry-leading golf bag brand Sun Mountain, is introducing a new single-rider, club-carrying scooter called the FinnCycle.

Unveiled at the recent PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, the distinctive electric-powered scooter promises to add exhilaration to the average round of golf and speed up the pace of play, while being stable and easy to ride.

The two-wheeled model is fitted with a lithium battery offering 36 holes of play on a single charge. The golf bag sits along the centre-line of the scooter to enable easy club access and stability. Front and rear suspension provides a comfortable ride, while a hydraulic disc brake system brings the scooter to a gentle stop. It operates via a proprietary app that unlocks the scooter for use and then collects the usage fee in a hassle-free transaction.

FinnCycle is aimed primarily at golf resorts and recreational courses, with an advanced revenue-sharing model that reduces the upfront cost to the golf facility. A significant number of pre-orders for the innovative scooter were taken at the show and product availability in the UK is scheduled for this Spring.

“The FinnCycle caused a sensation at the PGA Show and was one of the stand-out products on display,” said Nigel Freemantle, Managing Director of Brand Fusion International, distributors of Sun Mountain products across Europe. “The idea is to make golf faster and fun and it really does take away any concerns about slow play. A four-ball equipped with a FinnCycle has been recorded to putt out in 1 hour 35 minutes.

“We see them being made available for either an outright price or on lease hire and will be offering potential customers the chance to attend trial days later this year,” he added.

The FinnCycle offers the opportunity to substantially speed up the pace of play by naturally encouraging ready golf, with each player driving directly to his or her ball and putting desirable sub-two-hour rounds within reach.
