SRIXON UNVEILS SECOND-GENERATION ZXI IRONS

Srixon has unveiled its second-generation ZXi iron family ahead of its retail launch on 16 October 2026.

The updated range comprises the ZXi7 Players Iron, ZXi5 Players Performance Iron, new ZXi5+ Players Distance Iron and ZXiU Utility Iron. Pre-sales will begin on 2 October.

Central to the line-up is i-FORGED, a new manufacturing process combining Srixon’s Condensed Forging techniques with controlled heat-softening procedures. The process strengthens high-stress areas of the head while maintaining softer material properties elsewhere.

Srixon has also strengthened the material surrounding each groove, which it says improves the durability of the face technology compared with the previous generation without compromising feel.

Every second-generation ZXi iron is forged by Endo Manufacturing in Japan.

“From the materials we use to the way each head is forged, shaped, and weighted, every decision was made with feel in mind. It’s the hallmark of Srixon Irons and something we’ve always refused to compromise on,” said Joe Miller, Srixon European Product Manager.

“With this generation, we pushed that philosophy even further, creating irons that perform at the highest level while delivering the rewarding sensation golfers instantly recognise when they’ve hit one pure.”

The ZXi5, ZXi5+ and ZXiU use Srixon’s new MainFrame iQ face design. Developed using AI-assisted simulations of different impact locations, the system reduces face mass by up to eight per cent and redistributes weight around the head.

According to Srixon, this produces faster ball speeds, greater forgiveness, higher MOI and more consistent performance across the face.

The ZXi7 introduces PureFrame iQ, an updated version of the company’s PureFrame technology. An enlarged forged ridge sits behind the sweet spot to stiffen the impact area, improve stability and provide the softer feedback preferred by accomplished players.

Weight distribution changes throughout the ZXi7 set, with additional perimeter weighting in the long irons and more mass concentrated towards the centre of the short irons.

Across the family, Srixon has introduced thinner toplines and cleaner transitions between clubs. Blade lengths, sole shapes and offset progression vary by model, while maintaining a consistent appearance that allows fitters to build blended sets.

All four models also feature Srixon’s Tour V.T. Sole, which combines different sole widths, bounce angles and notching to maintain clubhead speed through the turf.

The individual models are positioned as follows:

ZXi7 Players Iron: A compact S15C forged model with tungsten weighting, designed for workability, feel and control.

ZXi5 Players Performance Iron: Combines forged feel and players’ shaping with additional speed and forgiveness.

ZXi5+ Players Distance Iron: A fully forged hollow-body model featuring stronger lofts, longer blade lengths and wider soles.

ZXiU Utility Iron: A long-iron replacement designed to produce higher launch and greater forgiveness.

The ZXi5+ is a new addition to the Srixon range and sits between the ZXi5 and the game-improvement ZXiR family.

“With the inclusion of the ZXiR and ZXiR HL series serving the needs of game-improvement golfers, we saw an opportunity to introduce a fully forged hollow Players Distance Iron for those seeking more distance and forgiveness in a more tour-authentic package,” Miller continued.

“Our ZXi5 Irons have been, and will continue to be, phenomenal performers but the addition of ZXi5+ allows us to fit a broader range of golfers within the series. We’ve already seen the success these irons have had on Tour with Ryan Fox’s Open win, and they are a great option for golfers wanting more forgiveness in the long-iron portion of their bags.”

For retailers and fitting specialists, the addition of the ZXi5+ broadens the range’s appeal while the consistent shaping across the family supports mixed-model set configurations.
