SkyTrak named consumer tech golf product of the year

SkyCaddie is celebrating the latest award for its highly-praised SkyTrak, after it was named top Consumer Tech product in the 2015 Editor’s Choice awards on US golf website,

The £1,695 SkyTrak, which arrived in the UK in November 2015, is the world’s first affordable professional-grade personal launch monitor and golf simulator.

In selecting SkyTrak as its leading new consumer technology of 2015 MyGolfSpy, which attracts over half a million unique users each month, said: “$2,000 is admittedly a high price for what we’re calling consumer tech, but doesn’t a fully-featured and reliable launch monitor for thousands, and in some cases tens of thousands, of dollars less than any reputable competitor’s products deserve our full attention?

“Given its potential to drive down prices, and make launch monitors more accessible to the average golfer, we say hell yes it does”. The article was written by MyGolfSpy’s Editor, Tony Covey.

SkyCaddie’s Jacqui Surman said: “Editor’s Choice in MyGolfSpy is a highly valid award, I feel. As well as factoring in how the product performs, it also takes into account opinions from both website staff and everyday golfers. It also considers the immediate market impact, and in some cases a product’s long-term potential to advance the golf industry.

“In SkyTrak’s case, MyGolfSpy highlighted the latter. Not only does SkyTrak possess the ability to amaze golfers, golf clubs and golf professionals today, but it is also a truly disruptive product as regards what the industry now expects from this technology as regards price point”.

The award is the second industry accolade in quick succession for SkyTrak, after it was short-listed for the 2015 HSBC Golf Business Forum Innovation Award.
