Scott walks to victory on FootJoys

Adam Scott won the Crowne Plaza Invitational on Sunday, 25 May securing his position as world number one in the Official World Golf Rankings. The Australian posted rounds of 71, 68, 66 and 66 at Colonial Country Club, equalling Jason Dufner on a total of 271. Scott made a seven-foot birdie putt on the third play-off hole for his eleventh US PGA Tour victory.

Both Scott and Dufner wore FootJoy shoes, with Scott wearing a pair of FJ D.N.A. and a FJ StaSof glove. In total 60 percent of competitors chose FJ footwear at the Crowne Plaza Invitational, almost four times that of the nearest competitor, with 34 percent using FJ gloves. FJ’s overwhelming popularity was also evident at the European Tour’s flagship BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth, where 61 percent and 35 percent of the field opted to wear FJ shoes and gloves, respectively.

After receiving a winner’s cheque in excess of $1million, Scott said, “It’s a good feeling and maybe some validation, you could say. I was having to speak about it a lot this week, leading up to teeing off and maybe added a little pressure for myself, trying to play like a number one. But I think the important thing was I realised that didn’t mean playing perfect. The way I came back and got it done, I felt like I certainly played like one of the best players in the world out there.”
